Re ASCO, there was only ever one store, in Warrington, wasn't there? I note that the website http://www.ascostores.co.uk/ is also suspended. Crains has coverage (from 24 May) of Asco's winding up here, reporting that: "Asco Stores Ltd, which aimed to create a new chain of small supermarkets in the North West, has been wound up following pressure from creditors... Five companies owed a total of £53,620 joined a petition against the company at Liverpool District Registry last week."

Thanks for that Mr Value! Funnily enough, I actually did an updated blog on Pound-Mart only yesterday - see http://www.soultsretailview.co.uk/2010/05/31/alworths-plans-cupar-and-forfar-openings-as-graham-pays-a-visit-to-amersham/. Both the Cupar and Forfar stores are to become branches of Alworths.
